Japan Bowl Interns

(1) Clinical Assistant Professor, Japanese Language and Culture
Institution: University at Buffalo, The State University of New York The Department of Linguistics at the University at Buffalo is seeking a full-time, Clinical Assistant Professor in Japanese language, for a 10-month (academic-year commitment), non-tenure track position with an initial three-year appointment with possible renewal, contingent on performance, department need, and availability of funding.
The successful candidate’s responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester possibly including a Japanese culture course. The responsibilities also include providing assistance to the Director in the development of the Japanese Program such as training and supervising graduate and undergraduate student teaching assistants and
other instructors, conducting placement tests, and material development. There is no research obligation for this position, and there is potential for promotion to clinical associate professor. The position offers a competitive faculty salary and state employee benefits.The successful candidate must be able to regularly teach in-person classes on the University at Buffalo campus beginning fall 2022.

Minimum qualifications:
PhD in Japanese language pedagogy, literature, culture, applied linguistics, or a related field. Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching Japanese language at all levels and Japanese culture courses to English-speaking students at the university level.
Preferred qualifications:
At least three years of experience teaching Japanese at the university level is preferred. Familiarity with contemporary second language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies and curriculum development is desired. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach a variety of Japanese culture courses such as literature and popular culture. (3) Japanese language instructor
Lehman College of the City University of New York

The Department of Languages and Literatures at Lehman College of the City University of New York is currently seeking a Japanese language instructor to teach as an adjunct lecturer beginning this Fall 2022 semester. The successful applicant will teach 6 - 14 credits of Japanese Language courses per academic year. We are seeking for an instructor to teach JAL 201: Intermediate Japanese 1 in the fall and JAL 202: Intermediate Japanese 2 in the spring, with a possibility of an additional elementary level course per semester.
Required qualification: M.A. or higher degree in Japanese or appropriate related field; evidence of excellence in teaching Japanese; native or near-native proficiency in both Japanese and English.
